Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce Opens New Facility, With Help from Bank OZK Donation
November 22, 2018 in Corporate NewsOn September 4, as over 200 supporters watched, the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce (BCBCC) celebrated the grand opening of its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the city of Beaufort, South Carolina.
Bank OZK helped with the purchase of a 15,000 square foot facility, which features not only the primary offices for the chamber, but an art gallery, a restaurant, and even extra space for more businesses.
Of particular note, the new building houses the chamber’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), which is credited with helping the BCBCC earn the title of “2018 USBC Chamber of the Year” at the annual U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) Conference.
Here at Bank OZK, we believe communities are stronger with teamwork, and according to an article in Style Magazine, BCBCC Board Chairman Bernard McIntyre agrees. “An African proverb tells us that ‘if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together,'” he said to the crowd. “All of us here today can be proud of being a part of making this dream become a reality. No matter the setbacks… no matter the bumps along the way, let’s keep working together!”
