I have long believed that our highly talented and diverse workforce is one of Bank OZK’s greatest strengths. This strength, combined with the incredible diversity of our customer base, our communities and our board of directors, contributes to our Bank’s success.
Recent events throughout our country have jolted us as a nation. The tragic and senseless deaths of George Floyd and others have left us with a profound sense of grief and outrage and are serving as a wake-up call to address the positive changes needed in our country.
I believe that our Bank team is united in our desire for constructive dialogue and healing, so that every member of our society can peacefully enjoy equal rights and opportunities, while being respected and valued.
Bank OZK has long held that diversity and inclusion strengthens our Bank and our communities. Four core tenets guide our Bank, and one of these is diversity.
“We believe that capitalizing on the unique insights, abilities and experiences of each team member is critical in achieving the bank’s full potential. We embrace teamwork, collaboration and diversity in all its forms, recognizing that our potential together far exceeds the sum of our potential individually.”
Last month we named one of our valued team members, Cathy Bonner, as Senior Vice President, Director of Employee Relations, Diversity and Inclusion. This appointment further demonstrates our Bank’s commitment to and recognition of the importance of expanding diversity and inclusion awareness and initiatives.
Our new normal has to be much more than adapting to the environment caused by the global pandemic. We must all embrace the quest for continuous, sustained change in regards to equality and justice, in order to create a better world for all of our families, communities and coworkers.
